Looking to the Horizon

The Artemis II mission, which has now been completed (April 1-10), took four astronauts further away from Earth than humans have ever gone - 252,700 miles, beating the unintended distance of the Apollo 13 mission in 1970.

As P•O•E members reflected on the ineffable accomplishments of our fellow humans, we joked about how the future lunar research stations will need furniture. It may seem like a far-fetched idea, but in reality, we should be thinking about and preparing for the future.

The popular adage, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars,” has real merit in any industry. If we, as a design firm, can dream about furnishing the future lunar research stations, surely we have the ambition to be at the forefront of the future of workplaces and spaces.

P•O•E has always looked to new horizons, embraced the latest research, and pushed boundaries of what is possible in our industry. It's right there in our logo. We have built our team with the North Star of our core values: Do the Right Thing, Client First, Positive Player, Ownership Thinking, Figure It Out. P•O•E Leadership has been strategic about inspiring our team to be a crew, all working to steer our ship in the same direction into a successful future.

This latest NASA Mission has inspired us as individuals and as a collective. Whilst most of us will never go to space or work on the technology that gets us there, we all have important roles here on Earth, working to make our lives better here, whether it's for our Members, our partners, or our clients. Our work matters, and so does yours.

Photo: Hello, World is a photograph of Earth taken on April 2, 2026, by NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman aboard the Artemis II Orion spacecraft on its way toward a flyby of the Moon. It is the first in-person photograph of an illuminated Earth by moonlight since The Blue Marble in 1972 Apollo 17 mission.
