Merdinian Bikes for MS

Date: September 15, 2014

The weekend of September 12th, 2014, Christy traveled to Columbia, MO and took part in the annual Bike MS event. Braving torrential downpours and resulting swampy weather, our tough-as-nails employee cycled a total of 115 miles, raising $250 for the cause.

Slowly but surely, cycling has been growing in popularity throughout the United States. St. Louis is no exception. By next spring, the city plans to create or upgrade over 100 miles of cycling street routes to meet the population's growing demand. Interest in the sport has reached the workplace design industry, with teams such as Christner and United by Design nabbing 39 and 70 team members, respectively.

Christy Merdinian, an Account Executive at POE, recently joined cycling team Christner at the Bike MS event. Unfortunately, the weekend did not start off on a positive note. Stormy weather on Friday the 12th brought in a strong downpour, creating a muddy campsite that caused some to evacuate. The weather, however, did not dampen the spirit of the cyclists who woke up bright and early the next morning to nab breakfast, team pictures, and a fresh, positive start to the day. Christy was one of these early risers and was able to put in a solid day of cycling that weekend, racking up a total of 75 miles on Saturday, and 40 miles on Sunday.
